The Backrooms Experience begins with your character slipping through a strange gap in reality and falling into a place that looks nothing like the real world. You land in a long yellow hallway with buzzing lights, old carpets, and empty rooms that stretch far in every direction. There are no windows, no signs, and no people to guide you. Everything feels quiet but unsettling, as if the building has been forgotten for years. Your goal is simple. You need to walk through these repeating rooms and find a way out before the place becomes more dangerous.

The gameplay is easy to learn. You move through halls, open doors, and listen carefully to the sounds around you. Sometimes the rooms are calm, with nothing but the hum of the lights. Other times you hear footsteps, distant knocks, or soft noises that make you want to turn back. You do not fight anything. Instead, you survive by paying attention, staying quiet, and choosing safe paths. Some areas have clues on the walls or objects on the floor that hint where you should go next. The controls are simple enough for beginners, with walking, looking around, and interacting being the main actions.

As you explore deeper levels, the Backrooms change shape. Some floors are dark and cold, others are wide and filled with water, and a few look almost normal until you notice something slightly wrong. Each level has its own rules, sounds, and small dangers. You learn how to move carefully, use your light wisely, and keep calm when the world around you shifts.
