The first world opens with darker colors, pumpkin-themed blocks, and enemies arranged in patterns made for this special edition. Paths look familiar for a moment, but new platforms, hidden rooms, and changed enemy spots give each level a different rhythm. Lanterns, spooky decorations, and small sound changes make the stages feel themed without confusing the layout. Some early levels even include shortcut pipes or bonus areas placed in new locations.

Gameplay stays simple and clear. Mario runs, jumps, and collects power-ups just like in a normal game. Mushrooms and Fire Flowers help you get through tougher areas, while special Halloween-branded items may appear to give small boosts. Enemies such as Goombas, Koopas, and Piranha Plants show up in different spots, and a few stages include reskinned versions made to match the theme. Controls remain easy, so timing jumps, avoiding hazards, and exploring bonus rooms feel natural for beginners.

As you move further into the worlds, difficulty rises in steady steps. Levels start adding tighter jumps, faster platforms, and enemy groups arranged to block simple routes. Some underground areas include tricky paths with low ceilings and hidden blocks. Ghost-style stages appear later, with moving platforms, disappearing floors, and side rooms that hold coins or extra power-ups. Castle levels end with boss rooms that use smaller platforms or quicker attacks. Each world adds new hazards, different layouts, and optional paths that reward careful exploration while keeping movement simple and familiar.
