Hakuoki – Memories of the Shinsengumi

Chizuru goes to Kyoto to search for her missing father and is attacked moments later by strange men, and the crisis pulls her directly into the headquarters of the Shinsengumi. The first objective begins as she is questioned, escorted, and placed under watch while the group investigates why her father’s research is connected to violent incidents across the city. Patrol routes, suspicious sightings, and sudden clashes appear as clear tasks, and each chapter starts with a direct goal such as following a lead, speaking to a captain, or checking a location tied to the case.

Story events progress through conversations, choices, and scripted confrontations. Chizuru moves between districts, meeting Shinsengumi members who report attacks, missing documents, or sightings of enemies linked to her father. Some scenes require selecting dialogue that shapes how a character reacts or determines who accompanies her next. Combat events trigger in certain chapters, showing short sequences where the Shinsengumi fight opponents blocking the investigation. Flashbacks, reports, and simple maps help trace connections between incidents, forming a straightforward path through each chapter’s objective.

Later routes split based on Chizuru’s decisions, placing her with different captains as new threats rise in Kyoto. Enemies become more organized, and story events reveal hidden information about the Shinsengumi, the medicine being researched, and why multiple groups are fighting over it. Additional chapters unlock memories, side scenes, and expanded paths that depend on earlier choices. Each route explains a different part of the conflict, and final chapters conclude with clear resolutions tied to the captain Chizuru worked with. The story ends once every major route is completed and all mysteries surrounding her father and the Shinsengumi are solved.
