Bub and Bob enter a new puzzle zone when colored bubbles surround them, and the first stage begins with a direct goal to clear the screen before the stack reaches the bottom. Each layout shows bubbles arranged in simple patterns, and every shot must hit matching colors to create a group that pops. New bubbles slide downward after a set number of moves, adding pressure to finish the stage quickly. Every level starts immediately with a clear target, such as clearing all bubbles or reaching a set score.

Most gameplay uses straightforward aiming and shooting. Bub or Bob points the bubble launcher toward the cluster above, and a quick tap fires the next color into position. Matching three or more bubbles clears them, and drops any clusters no longer connected. Some layouts include walls that reflect shots, letting bubbles bounce into hard-to-reach spots. Others place barriers or mixed colors that require careful planning. Power bubbles appear in certain stages, providing effects like clearing a row or removing all bubbles of a single color. Each pop shows instant feedback that keeps the pace moving.

As stages progress, layouts become more demanding with tighter spaces, more colors, and faster drop timers. Challenge modes appear with goals like clearing bubbles under a time limit or surviving waves that descend more quickly. Completing early levels unlocks new themed worlds, each with its own patterns and small rule twists. Score totals record how efficiently each stage is cleared, offering reasons to replay tougher boards. The journey ends once every bubble set across all worlds has been cleared, completing Bub and Bob’s puzzle run.
